by Daryl Acumen

Overview:

  • From Lehi
  • Undergraduate in forensic chemistry
  • MBA law management
  • Got started with Chaffetz campaign
  • Member of iCaucus
  • constitutional and fiscal conservatives
  • County Commissioner has one line job description – defend Utah and US Constitutions
  • Has done extensive research on county budgets and believes the answer to many of our issues is to cut spending and cut taxes
  • Wears a tea Party pin
  • We need to say ‘No’ to Washington and start taking back our lands
  • Describes how using a large waste management company instead of subcontracting Pleasant Grove waste management to Orem which them subcontracts to the company would save at minimum $1 million dollars
  • States he will serve a maximum of two terms
Pros:
  • Has done his homework and wants to save the taxpayers money
  • Wants to fight the good fight for taking back our lands
  • Very conservative
Cons:
  • He’s a member of iCaucus who’s leaders have stated stated that they would not support the majority of Republican for public office today because they voted for TARP, including Paul Ryan and George W. Bush.  I consider this to be an extreme position and not in the best interests of the party or the country, but I respect the fact that others will disagree and will consider this a pro and not a con.
Questions:
  • Do you want this job because you want to do the work, or because you think it will raise your profile in the Tea Party?

Notes:

In the end, I have to wonder whether John Morris is running because he wants this job or if he’s just trying to make a name for himself as a Tea Party conservative and is using this race as a stepping stone to higher office.  That said, he does appear to be doing his homework to prepare himself for the job.
