Dan Liljenquist has given very specific invitations to Hatch about where and when to debate--college campuses, throughout the next month.

How ironic that we bemoan a system where only candidates with lots of money can win an election, and then make fun of those without a lot of money who are still trying. Of course Liljenquist has less money than Hatch. Of course he would use any way he can to get good free press. Wouldn't you? He is running to change the system--term limits, cutting legislator pensions, fix problems--so that we get a government that we don't have to bemoan. He has a track record of doing just that.

The facts are that the last debates were not watched by many people. If you happened to be there in person, you would have seen Hatch speaking over his time, interrupting the moderator, not answering the questions asked and generally showing an arrogance that comes with 36 years of DC Senator living and a disconnect with true conservative principles. To Hatch, as long as you don't spend as much as the liberals, you are a conservative--see his answer about Medicare Part D at the Draper debate. The Hatch people don't want Utah to see that.

Debates are the best way to compare candidates side by side, with time to rebut inaccurate statements, and get the incumbent out of his carefully controlled campaign events. By denying Utah voters the consideration of even one televised debate, where they can get a clear view of who he is and what he stands for, Hatch is just showing his arrogance again. He has become the very thing he campaigned against. Utah voters should be disgusted.

Daryl - It was great to meet you at the state convention. You looked great in your red Orrin Hatch shirt. Did you get one of Hatch's Cowboy hats as well? I still have your business card. Let's jump on a call this week and talk about Dan's two Utah Taxpayer Advocate of the Year Awards and three National Legislator of the Year Awards given to him for his reforms with Pensions and Medicaid. I think you said you had some political advice for us.
